Sponsor an Animal

SARA is engaged in the rescue and ultimate re-homing of stray and unwanted pets, but from time to time animals arrive which cannot, for a variety of reasons, be re-homed. These animals will remain in our care and we will support them for the remainder of their lives.

This is a costly business and our "SPONSOR AN ANIMAL SCHEME" gives you the opportunity to help these animals.SARA is run totally by volunteers, so you can be sure that, every penny you donate goes directly to the animals. Not only that, but if you are a tax payer, we can turn every £1 donated into £1.28 through the Inland Revenue Gift Aid Scheme.e.g. a monthly donation of £5 would return £6.40
a monthly donation of £10 would return £12.80
a monthly donation of £20 would return £25.60

In return you will receive a regular update on the animal's well being from the animal itself, and an invitation to our annual sponsor day when you can meet your sponsor dog (special arrangements for cats)! All you have to do is choose your favourite animal from those below, complete the form at the back and return it to us as soon as possible. You can donate as much or as little as you wish and either take the standing order to your bank or send it to us and we will forward it. You can also pay by cheque made payable to S.A.R.A. If you wish to complete a Sponsorship Form please click HERE to see the form. Please print it out making sure your page settings allow it to be printed on a single sheet of A4 paper and then fill it in and post it to the address on the form.

Thank you for your support. You can also find out more about what's happening at S.A.R.A. by clicking on this link www.sale-ads.com/molly

The following animals are available for sponsorship:

photo of Barnie

Barnie is about 9 years old and has been with SARA since 2000 when his owner brought him in saying he had "gone vicious" We have seen no signs of aggression in him. He is full of fun and loves to play with his mates. He is the official "Hug me Dog"

updated photo of Leo

Leo is a 4 year old cream Persian tom cat. He came to SARA as a stray. Poor Leo has many health problems, possibly the result of poor breeding, which make him unsuitable for re-homing. These include kidney and sinus disorders for which veterinary treatment and special diets are on-going. He enjoys a cuddle and lazing about.

photo of Duffy

Duffy is a 10 yr old, apricot coloured, miniature poodle dog. An old gentleman who came to SARA when his elderly owner changed accommodation & was unable to take him. He's full of character, loves to be the centre of attention, and enjoys being brushed and generally pampered. However, he has proved to be unsuitable for re-homing as he bites! He's very settled with his foster carer and her terriers and hopefully will stay there for the remainder of his life.

photo of Zak

Zak is 10 yrs old. His owner died and relatives couldn't keep him. He is a very attractive dog and most of the time his temprement is lovable, however he can be unpredictable and then he becomes a "grumpy old man". His foster carer loves him and puts up with his moods

photo of Ben

Ben 7yrs old was found as a stray in the Guisborough area. He is a Lurcher x and loves people but is not too keen on other dogs. No one seemed to want Ben and so we decided to keep him as we had become quite attached to him. He is a very affectionate dog and likes nothing better than long walks and playing with his toys of which he is quite possesive!! He also quite likes cats which is unusual for a Lurcher. Ben lives at Foxrush Farm and thinks he owns the place

photo of Bobby

Bobby is 8 yrs old and was found as a stray in Redcar area. He is a lovely friendly dog with people but really dislikes other dogs. Because of this we have been unable to home him and he remains happily with his foster carer. Bobby likes to curling up by the fire and is very contented. He loves his walks but for obvious resons has to be kept on a lead.

photo of Bonnie

10 Year old crossbreed, she was found as a stray. Bonnie is a little deaf and her eye sight is poor because of her age. She is a quiet dog and although suffering with arthritis in her hips and spine she still loves to go out for her daily walk. The lady who rescued her had become very fond of her and gave her a loving home, she remains the responsibility of S.A.R.A. for ongoing veterinary care so she became a sponsor dog.

photo of Ellie

Ellie 8yrs old and was found as a stray. She is a loving cat but can be moody!! Ellie has been to 3 different homes and returned because, First she didn't like the other cat and second and third because the gets over excited when playing and bit the owners. She is happy in foster care and will remain with us until someone can tolerate this behavior

photo of Katie

A terrier cross somewhere between 8 and 12 years old. She was found as a stray in a very bad condition. She had a large mammary tumour and a very bad case of dermatitis. After a major operation to remove several mammary tumours and frequent baths and many courses of different tablets she is making good progress, although she still has a long way to go to achieve full health, if she ever can after such an illness.

photo of Annie

Annie is a small Shetland cross breed pony around 10 months old. She was found tethered, without water and in poor condition when rescued by SARA members. Also she had been seprated from her mother far too young. She is presently unschooled and a bit "nippy". Annie will remain in SARA carefor the near future and will act as SARA mascot at fundraising events.

photo of Stella

Stella is a Yorkshire Terrier Cross and is approximately 12 years old. She was found as a stray with a large mammary tumour. After collapsing with a very bad womb infection she under went an emergency operation to spay her, the vet also removed the tumour at the same time.

Stella recovered well from this major surgery until a few weeks later she developed a cough and went off her food. After another visit to the vet (who is not her favourite person) she was diagnosed with a heart murmur, it was also thought that her heart was not working fully.

Stella has now been put on medication which it is believed she will need to take for the rest if her life. Stella has recently moved to a long term foster home as a companion to a lovely Sheltie Cross and two cats.

photo of Brandy

Brandy is a 13 years old Lhaso Apso.

He came to SARA because both his owners had had a stroke and were afraid they would fall over him. Housetrained and Neutered.

Friendly. A nice companion dog.
