I first became involved with S.A.R.A Animal Rescue as a volunteer, dedicating 13 years to helping the charity and the animals who needed us. In 2021, I took the step of becoming Chair of the charity, and what a journey it has been since then!

Having spent so many years volunteering, I already knew just how much hard work, dedication and compassion goes into running a rescue centre. However, stepping into the role of Chair gave me an even greater appreciation of the challenges we face, the responsibility we carry and the difference we can make to the lives of the animals who come through our doors.

Every day brings something different. From caring for animals who have had difficult beginnings to watching them recover, gain confidence and eventually find their loving forever homes, there are moments that remind me exactly why S.A.R.A is so important. Not every story has an easy ending, and there are times when the emotional and financial challenges feel overwhelming, but the determination to give every animal the best possible chance never changes.

S.A.R.A is about so much more than rehoming animals. It is about providing safety, kindness and care to those who need it most, often when they have nowhere else to turn. It is also about the incredible people who make this possible: our staff, volunteers, supporters and everyone who gives their time, energy and generosity to help us continue our work.

Looking back on my journey, from volunteering for 13 years to becoming Chair in 2021, I feel incredibly proud of what we continue to achieve together. There is always more to do, more animals to help and more challenges to overcome, but I remain as passionate about S.A.R.A's work as ever.

Being Chair is a responsibility I take to heart, and I feel privileged to play a part in ensuring the charity continues to be there for the animals who need us.
