Dexter is a three-year-old Shih Tzu cross who’s full of life and always on the go. He’s an active little dog who will suit a home with owners who enjoy getting out and about and can give him plenty of exercise and stimulation.

Dexter came into our care with his mum, Rosie (a Patterdale cross). Although they get along well, we feel they’d both do better in separate homes, where each can have the individual attention they need.

He’s a friendly, confident dog who enjoys spending time with people and loves to play, especially when toys are involved. Dexter is often found racing around the free-run pen, burning off his energy and having a great time.

Dexter has previously lived with a cat, so he may be able to live with one again following careful introductions. He could also potentially live with another dog, depending on a successful meet at the centre.

As a Shih Tzu cross, Dexter will need regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and comfortable. Routine brushing at home and professional grooming every few weeks will help prevent any matting.

He’ll need a home with a secure garden and people who can give him the time and activity he needs each day. Once he’s had his exercise, he’s happy to relax and settle down for a rest.

Dexter is a bright, affectionate dog who will make a lovely companion in the right home — one that can offer him structure, attention, and plenty of opportunities to stay active.
