💚 Meet Frankie 💚
Frankie | 14 months old | French Bulldog
Frankie is a very special 14-month-old French Bulldog who is looking for a very special forever home. He is a typical Frenchie in so many ways — full of personality, funny, affectionate, playful and would be completely devoted to his people! He absolutely loves human company and is a wonderfully sociable boy with people.
Like many French Bulldogs, Frankie has a big personality packed into a little body. He can be cheeky, entertaining and incredibly loving.
Frankie does, however, have some additional needs which means that finding the right home for him is incredibly important.
🐾 Frankie and other dogs
Frankie is fantastic with people, but he currently struggles when he sees other dogs. He can be quite reactive towards them, and he needs patient owners who understand that this isn't because he is a "bad" dog.
Frankie needs to learn that other dogs can be nice and that he doesn't need to react when he sees them. His new family will need to be committed to continuing his training and helping him build positive experiences around other dogs at his own pace.
Because of this, Frankie will need owners who are prepared to put time, patience and consistency into his training rather than expecting everything to happen overnight.
❤️ Frankie is a special-needs boy
Frankie is sadly classed as a disabled dog because of a very narrow airway, which is believed to be related to his breeding. Surgical options have been discussed, but unfortunately there isn't a surgical procedure that can correct the underlying problem. Frankie has B.O.A.S, Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome, sadly becoming more frequent with bad breeding.
This means Frankie needs a home that understands that his breathing must always be taken into consideration.
Frankie can enjoy walks and play, but everything needs to be kept sensible and within his limitations. He must not be encouraged to exercise excessively or play too vigorously, as putting too much strain on his respiratory system could be dangerous for him.
Hot weather is particularly important. Frankie cannot go for walks when temperatures are too high, as dogs with compromised airways can struggle to cool themselves effectively through panting. His owners will need to be sensible about the weather and recognise when Frankie needs to rest.
He is likely to remain prone to respiratory difficulties throughout his life, so his new family must be prepared for the additional care, monitoring and potential veterinary attention that may be required.
🥩 Keeping Frankie lean is essential
Frankie's weight will be extremely important to his wellbeing.
He must be kept lean and at an appropriate weight because carrying excess weight can put additional strain on his breathing and make his airway problems harder for him to manage.
His new owners will therefore need to be responsible with his diet, avoid overfeeding and monitor his weight carefully throughout his life. Frankie may be very good at convincing you that he is starving — after all, he is a Frenchie! — but his health must always come first.
A good-quality, appropriate diet and careful portion control will be an important part of keeping Frankie as healthy and comfortable as possible.

We are looking for someone who genuinely understands that Frankie is a special boy with special needs.

❤️ Willing to put his individual needs before what might be considered "normal" for a young dog
Frankie isn't looking for someone who wants to take him on endless adventures or push him to his physical limits. He needs someone who will love him for exactly who he is, understand his limitations and make sensible decisions on his behalf.
Despite everything, Frankie is still a young dog who deserves to have fun, enjoy his walks when the weather allows, play sensibly, learn new things and, most importantly, have a family who adores him.
He has so much love and personality to give.
Frankie is going to need that special person who looks past his medical needs and sees the wonderful little Frenchie underneath. 💚
