Meet Riley, an 11-year-old Border Collie searching for his forever home. This gorgeous boy always has a waggy tail and, despite being a senior, is still full of life and loves getting out and about.
Riley absolutely adores his tennis ball and could play for hours on end. Like many Border Collies, he is intelligent, active, and thrives on interaction and mental stimulation. He enjoys having a job to do, even if that’s just a good game of fetch or exploring on his walks with his favourite people.
He has a touch of arthritis in his back legs, but he’s managing well and is not currently on any medication.
He walks nicely on the lead, though he can be strong at times. While he occasionally reacts to other dogs, he gets along well with many and walks happily alongside the dogs at the centre. He has previously lived with three small female dogs, so he may be able to share his home with another calm female companion. That said, Riley would also be perfectly content as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention.
Riley has a typical Border Collie coat which will benefit from regular brushing to keep it clean, tangle-free, and in good condition. Routine grooming will also help manage shedding and is a lovely way to bond with him.
We have been told that Riley can be a little wary of some men; however, since being in our care, we have not observed this behaviour. As with any dog, gentle introductions and allowing him time to build trust will help him feel comfortable and secure.
Riley is a loving, active boy who still has plenty of joy to give and is ready to find a home where he can truly shine.
