Bruno – Young Short-Haired Lurcher Looking for His Forever Home

Bruno is a 14-month-old short-haired Lurcher, around the size of a Whippet, who is looking for an active and loving forever home. He came into our care as his owner sadly fell ill and was no longer able to look after him.

About Bruno

Bruno is a bright, energetic young dog who is full of enthusiasm for life. At just over a year old, he is still very much in his teenage phase and can be a giddy, excitable boy. He enjoys his food and treats, which will be a great help with ongoing training and positive reinforcement.

He is still learning about the world around him and is not particularly interested in toys at the moment, preferring instead to focus on people, interaction and anything rewarding or exciting going on around him.

Training & Behaviour

Bruno does pull on the lead and will need ongoing training, patience and consistency from his new owners. He will benefit from structured walks, calm handling and continued positive reinforcement to help him develop good manners and confidence as he matures.

He does have good recall in familiar environments, however we must stress that he should not be let off the lead immediately in a new home. This must be built up gradually over time in a safe, secure area, as rushing this process would be unsafe.

Bruno is friendly with other dogs and enjoys their company, so he could potentially live with another well-socialised dog, provided introductions are done carefully and the match is suitable.

His Ideal Home

Bruno would be best suited to an active home that can meet his physical and mental exercise needs. He is a lively, energetic boy who will thrive with owners who enjoy walking, training and spending time outdoors.

He could live with:

  • Children aged 12 years and over who are confident around larger, energetic dogs.

  • A well-socialised, friendly dog following successful introductions.

  • He has not been socialised with cats, so a cat-free home would be most suitable.

Grooming Requirements

As a short-haired Lurcher, Bruno has relatively low grooming needs. He will benefit from regular brushing to remove loose hair and keep his coat healthy and glossy. Routine care such as nail clipping, ear checks and general hygiene will also be important as part of his ongoing maintenance.

Health

Bruno is in great health and has no known medical concerns.

What Bruno Needs

Bruno will need:

  • An active home with plenty of daily exercise.

  • Ongoing lead training and positive reinforcement.

  • Continued recall training in safe, secure areas.

  • A secure garden or access to safe outdoor spaces.

  • Regular basic grooming and coat care.

  • Patience, consistency and time to mature into adulthood.

  • A calm, structured routine to help him settle and learn good manners.

Bruno is a fun-loving, energetic young dog who has had a slightly disrupted start but is now ready for the right home to help guide him into adulthood. With the right training, exercise and care, he will make a loyal, affectionate and rewarding companion.
