Milo is an 8-year-old Lhasa Apso looking for his forever home. ❤️
Milo is a lovely boy with a wonderfully independent personality. He is generally quiet, calm and happy in his own company, and there are times when he simply likes to have his own space. He isn't a dog who needs to be with you every minute of the day, but that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy affection!
When Milo is out in the free-run pen, he will regularly wander over to see us for some strokes, fuss and attention before happily going off to do his own thing. He has a lovely balance between enjoying human company and being comfortable entertaining himself.
Milo has really enjoyed his walks since arriving with us and is a pleasure to walk. He walks beautifully on the lead, taking everything at a nice, steady pace.
🛏️ Milo's Personal Space
Milo is a little dog who likes his boundaries respected, particularly when he is resting.
He does not like to be disturbed when he is in his bed and may grumble if he feels his space is being invaded. His grumble is an important warning and should be respected rather than punished.
For this reason, we feel an adult-only home would be most appropriate for Milo. His new family will need to understand canine body language, allow him to rest undisturbed and never approach, handle or move him when he has chosen to settle in his bed.
With clear boundaries, routine and respect for his space, Milo is a very sweet boy who enjoys coming over for affection when he's ready for it.
🐾 Understanding the Lhasa Apso
Lhasa Apsos are small but often surprisingly independent dogs. They were originally bred as companion and watchdog dogs in Tibet and can be naturally alert, confident and quite discerning about who they trust.
They aren't necessarily a breed that wants constant attention, and Milo certainly fits that independent Lhasa personality. He enjoys companionship on his terms and can be perfectly content to relax nearby.
They can also be intelligent and strong-willed, so their owners need to be patient and consistent rather than expecting them to do something simply because they've been asked!
✂️ Grooming Requirements
Lhasa Apsos have a long, continuously growing coat which requires regular grooming to prevent knots, matting and discomfort.
Milo's new family will need to be prepared for:
Regular brushing and combing
Professional grooming appointments
Keeping the coat at a manageable length if preferred
Regular checking of ears, eyes, paws and areas prone to matting
Good dental care, as small breeds can be prone to dental problems
Grooming should be introduced and maintained gently, particularly as Milo gets older. His groomer will need to be someone experienced and patient with senior dogs.
❤️ Milo's Senior Years
At 8 years old, Milo is entering his senior years and deserves a home where his needs can be carefully monitored as he gets older.
His new family should be prepared for regular veterinary checks and to keep an eye on things such as his teeth, weight, mobility, eyesight and general wellbeing. He may eventually need adjustments to his exercise routine as he ages, although for now he is thoroughly enjoying his walks.
He will also benefit from having comfortable, supportive bedding in a quiet area where he can sleep without being disturbed.

We feel Milo would be happiest in a quiet, adult-only home with people who appreciate that he is an independent little character.
His ideal home will:

Milo isn't looking for a hectic household or a family who expects a dog who wants constant attention. He would much prefer someone who appreciates his quieter personality and is happy to let him come to them when he wants a fuss.
Milo is a lovely little gentleman who knows his own mind. Give him the space he asks for, and he'll happily come over when he's ready for those all-important strokes! ❤️
